Case Title :- PRAGYA PRASUN & ORS vs. UNION OF INDIA & ORS.
Citation :- 2025 INSC 599
Date :- 30.04.2025
In a landmark ruling, the Hon’ble Supreme Court expanded the scope of Article 21 of the Constitution, holding that in today’s digitally-dependent society, denial of access to essential services delivered through digital platforms amounts to a violation of the right to live with dignity.
The Hon’ble Court was deciding petitions filed by individuals unable to complete digital KYC due to disabilities. Emphasizing inclusivity, it directed that digital KYC processes must be made accessible to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), including those with visual impairments or facial disfigurements.
