The Hon’ble Kerala High Court has recently issued a notice informing about its decision to incorporate WhatsApp messaging as an additional feature in its Case Management System (CMS).
- The Hon’ble Kerala High Court has announced that from October 6, its Case Management System (CMS) will start sending case-related information through WhatsApp.
- Updates will include details about e-Filing defects, case listing, proceedings, and other important notices. This facility will be available to advocates, litigants, and parties-in-person.
- The Hon’ble Court clarified that WhatsApp messages will not replace official summons or notices, unless specifically stated. A warning has been issued against fake or fraudulent WhatsApp messages, only messages from the official sender ID should be trusted.
- The Hon’ble Court further clarified that non-delivery or delay of WhatsApp messages will not excuse absence or non-participation in proceedings.
- Advocates and litigants are advised to cross-check all updates on the official High Court website for confirmation.
- The notice also provides step-by-step instructions for stakeholders to update their mobile numbers in order to receive the alerts.
